The Movie in 3 Sentences
- Asteroid City is a layered story about a 1950s desert town hosting a Junior Stargazer convention, where students, parents, scientists, soldiers, and performers gather under strange circumstances. After an alien encounter, the town is placed under quarantine, and everyone is forced to sit with confusion, grief, and wonder. The movie is framed as a play within a television broadcast, so the story constantly reminds you that what you’re watching is constructed.
- The visuals are fantastic - but we've seen this all before. Instead of a compelling lead who has an interesting problem to solve - we get several bland characters who are quirky, and that's it.
