The Movie in 3 Sentences

  • Grace, a writer and new mother, as she moves with her husband Jackson to a rural home and begins to descend into postpartum psychosis under isolation, desire, rage, and postpartum depression.
  • You don’t really know what is real and what’s only happening in Grace’s mind, allowing viewers to step into the minds of person going through a mental breakdown. It made the plot a bit more difficult to follow but it was authentic. Madness is not linear, so it makes sense for the film to portray madness in a non-linear way.
  • Jennifer Lawrence’s performance was impressive - very nuanced and raw. Pattinson delivers a compelling performance as a partner doing his best to make what he has for his wife and his child, but nevertheless cannot fill up the hole in this dysfunctional relationship.
  • Perhaps a too intense of a movie to watch for a casually picked one for a random date night lol
