Incendies is essentially two stories unfolding at once: a mother’s search for the son she was forced to give up, and her twins’ search for the father—and brother—they never knew existed. The movie takes both stories and slowly brings them together through war, family secrets, and some genuinely shocking twists.
It’s a movie about the horror of war, especially violence committed in the name of religion and identity. The script is incredibly tight, and every new revelation changes how you understand what came before. Devastating, suspenseful, and one of the most memorable films I’ve seen in a long time.
