The Book in 3 Sentences
- Synchronize feeding, waketime, and nighttime sleep so the baby develops a predictable eat–wake–sleep rhythm. Find a middle ground between strict scheduling and fully baby-led feeding - Parent-Directed Feeding—using both the baby's hunger cues and a flexible routine instead of letting either the clock or the baby dictate everything. Basically treat babies like adults; listen to their hunger cues, but also stick to a routine.
- That said, I also found it interesting that the book has been fairly controversial. Many pediatricians caution against following it too rigidly, emphasizing that babies should be fed when they're hungry and that consistent sleep patterns often don't emerge until around six months.
