- Feminist story disguised in gothic sci-fi aethetics. Bella Baxter starts life with the mind of a child, but as she explores the world—through travel, relationships, sex, money, and philosophy—she refuses to let anyone else define who she's supposed to become.
- Cinematography was absolutely astounding. The crazy wide angle, even fish eye lens adding a claustrophobic feeling, candy-colored sets were all adding up to the story - making the whole world fantastic and supernatural. Absolutely beautiful movie.
- The acting was top notch. Ruffalo was entertaining and Willem Dafoe is always amazing.
