• Kids don't need perfect parents—they just need parents who consistently show up. Being emotionally available, even when you make mistakes, matters far more than getting everything right.
• "Four S's": safe, seen, soothed, and secure. The idea is that children thrive when they feel protected, understood for who they are, comforted when they're upset, and confident that someone will be there for them.
• The book really made me reflect was the focus on my own childhood. The book encourages me to think about how I was raised and I recognized some old patterns, break unhelpful cycles (although I don’t know if there were that many) with the idea that I become more intentional and present with my own kid.
• Reading parenting books is that I am reliving my childhood experience. Fascinating.
