The Movie in 3 Sentences
- Fennell’s version of Wuthering Heights focuses more tightly on the feverish, obsessive bond between the two lovers, played by Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi. The film turns the story into a gothic, full-blown tragic erotica about love that feels less romantic than consuming.
- I wonder if this stylized, gothic and very gen-z adaptaion needed so much kitsch. Robbie and Elordi - both talented actors - didn’t show any chemistry together and felt like they were miscasted (Robbie looks way too old compared to Elordi.. Sorry girl). Definitely style over substance.
- The original novel had so much more psychological weight to offer that was nowhere close to be portrayed in this movie :( It felt like a high budget music video adaptation of the masterpiece by Emily Bronte.
